Dr. Melvin Rabin - Retired Clinical Psychologist from Needham

Dr. Melvin Rabin cared for patients for nearly five decades at his clinic in Needham, Massachusetts. At Rabin Associates, Dr. Melvin Rabin treated patients with psycho-social problems.

Dr. Rabin is trained in various therapies, including Gestalt therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), thought field therapy, group therapy, individual therapy, and couples therapy. He also has expertise in helping families in conflict and divorce mediation.

In addition to treating patients, Dr. Rabin has lectured at hospitals and academic institutions throughout the state, including Mass General Hospital, Salem Hospital, Beth Israel, Harvard University, Radcliffe College, Boston College, Boston State College, Suffolk University, and Boston University. He has also coached and trained other psychologists who were treating patients experiencing trauma.

Renowned for his expertise, Dr. Rabin appeared in the book Even the Trees Were Crying, which covered sexual abuse trauma. His articles appeared in a weekly column, Rabin Reports, with the Suburban Press.

Dr. Rabin earned a doctorate in psychology from Boston University in the mid-1970s. Since that time, he has earned certificates from the Council 1 of the National Register of Health Services and the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis. He also holds a certification from the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland's Advanced Programs to work with couples, families, and individuals. He has been certified by the EMDR International Association and is also a licensed and approved consultant and clinical hypnotist of the American Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists.

Dr. Rabin’s professional associations include being a fellow and diplomate of the American Board of Medical Psychotherapists. He resides in Needham, Massachusetts.
